The role

Our team is growing, and we are seeking a highly self-motivated Research Associate to be part of our Immunohistochemistry Group. The mission of the Immunohistochemistry Group is to serve as a core provider of immunohistochemical analysis of cells and tissues in support of the Product Development and Production pipelines. This role will be responsible for delivery of high-quality paraffin-embedded cell pellets and tissues and continued monitoring of processes in order to reduce testing times. You will also be responsible for confirming the efficacy of treatments via western blot. You will have the opportunity to expand your skillset by learning the IHC assay and supporting testing needs as opportunities arise. While the primary responsibility of this role is developing model systems for IHC testing, you will have the chance to learn a number of new skills and work cross functionally with other groups throughout the company.

 

You'll have the opportunity to....

  • Perform sterile technique in Tissue Culture, including culturing and passaging cell lines.
  • Prepare high quality paraffin-embedded cell pellets to facilitate IHC testing.
  • Conduct scientific experiments including western blots to verify treatment efficacy.
  • Prepare paraffin-embedded animal tissues, syngeneic tumors, and xenografts in conjunction with the Animal Facility staff.
  • Maintain the inventory of paraffin-embedded human tissues, including sample logging and management of associated clinical data, when applicable. 
  • Maintain tissue processing and embedding equipment per established policies.
  • Support the execution of IHC testing as appropriate opportunities arise.
  • Assist the Western Blot Core by performing western blots in support of the development pipeline as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation in appropriate systems and testing databases in accordance with CST quality systems requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of the antibody development process and maintain an awareness of such as changes are implemented.
  • Understand and follow established protocols for all group processes and procedures as detailed in SOPs and training documents.
  • Seek opportunities that will improve quality, efficiency, or scalability of cell culture and other team processes.
  • Adhere to safety procedures in and around the laboratory.
