Position Summary

Product Scientists work as part of the fast-paced Production Teams to produce, manage, characterize and provide award-winning technical support for a variety of products including industry-awarded and rigorously validated antibodies, assay kits and companion products. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of activities specifically related to CST’s complex assay kits and companion products. This role is multi-faceted and will require bench work (estimated 40% of the time), product customer/technical support/service (30%) and coordination of product related activities (30%). It is a unique opportunity to be at the intersection of benchwork, production and customer relations among a team with a wide variety of backgrounds.  


  • Produces quality product lots to ensure availability for customer orders
  • Works closely with Product Development to ensure timely release of new products
  • Designs and completes scientific experiments including western blots, immunoprecipitation, tissue culture, ELISAs, and cellular assays in support of producing and characterizing product lots with limited guidance
  • Consistently follows protocols and is able to produce quality data with minimal instruction
  • Draws appropriate conclusions to moderately complex experiments with limited guidance and assists junior team members in the lab
  • Focuses on optimizing efficiency and continuously improving existing processes in order to allow for continued growth
  • Assists customers with product related questions by phone and email, answering most technical inquiries independently
  • Uses online research tools and literature searches to support experimental design and to resolve technical support issues
  • Assists our regional sales managers in accommodating and optimizing custom order requests
  • Manages inventory of products and coordinates availability within our team and the Global Supply Chain teams to fulfill customer orders
  • Works closely with Sales & Marketing teams to ensure accuracy and clarity of product data sheets and customer messaging


  • Bachelors degree in a biological science (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or biotechnology)
  • 5 years or more of relevant laboratory bench work experience
  • Experience working with stakeholders external to department
  • Experience working with antibodies including western blotting, ELISA, and immunoprecipitation techniques
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfections and protein work
  • Computer experience including working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Docs, or related applications





Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Masters degree in a biological science (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or biotechnology), PhD a plus
  • Working knowledge of technical support tools (e.g. Salesforce.com)
  • Strong comfort level and understanding of workflow tools a plus
  • Domain knowledge of multiple signaling pathways and their interdependencies
  • Demonstrated success in being highly accountable and meeting deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proven team collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively and manage multiple priorities at one time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
