    Position Summary

    We are seeking a Research Associate to join our highly collaborative, fast-paced, Immunohistochemistry team.  The mission of the Immuohistochemistry Group is to serve as a core provider of immunohistochemical analysis of cells and tissues in support of the Product Development and Production. Team members are responsible for delivery of thorough, high quality paraffin-embedded cell pellets and tissues within established service level agreements and continued monitoring of processes in order to reduce testing times.

    Responsibilities

    • Culture and treat mammalian cell lines to prepare high quality paraffin-embedded cell pellets in support of IHC testing
    • Conduct scientific experiments, including western blots to verify efficacy of cell treatments
    • Prepare paraffin-embedded animal tissues, syngeneic tumors and xenografts in conjunction with the Animal Facility staff
    • Maintain the inventory of paraffin-embedded human tissues, including sample logging and management of associated clinical data, when applicable
    • Support the execution of IHC testing
    • Maintain tissue processing and embedding equipment per established policies
    • Maintain accurate and complete hard copy and electronic laboratory documentation in appropriate systems including capturing data in testing databases in accordance with quality systems requirements
    • Develop an understanding of the antibody development process and maintaining an awareness of such as changes are implemented
    • Understand and follow established protocols for all established group processes and procedures as detailed in SOPs and training documents
    • Seek opportunities that will improve quality, efficiency, or scalability of cell culture and other group processes
    • Adhere to safety procedures in and around the laboratory

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in a biological science (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or biotechnology)
    • Basic hands on laboratory experience through academic exposure, internship or work experience

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • 1-2 years previous laboratory experience preferred
    • Previous experience with tissue culture
    • Multi tasking with effective management of multiple, changing priorities
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly dependable and team-focused
