    Position Summary

    We are seeking a Senior Scientist with a Molecular Biology focus who will serve as a key individual in advancing our monoclonal antibody discovery technology and furthering our ability to probe and understand the antibody repertoire. The ideal candidate should have expertise in next generation sequencing (NGS) and molecular biology and is expected to lead our NGS team within the molecular biology group. The Molecular Biology Group at Cell Signaling Technology is a highly dynamic and diverse group with experience in molecular and cell biology, NGS, protein expression and purification, laboratory automation and high throughput process development. The team is a focal point of technology innovation and plays a vital role in supporting the company’s monoclonal antibody discovery platform. This individual will also be responsible for ensuring reliable and consistent output of our existing antibody discovery pipeline.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide effective leadership, scientific direction and project management to the NGS team
    • Define and implement an effective, efficient operating mechanism for the NGS platform
    • Share and contribute scientific expertise with team members across the entire CST organization
    • Independently design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret scientific experiments in an effort to continuously advance our monoclonal antibody platforms and technologies
    • Proactively identify, evaluate and champion new technologies and workflow solutions that will improve quality, efficiency, or scalability
    • Drive adherence to standard operating procedures in lab operations and safety in according with Quality Management Systems
    • Manage individual team member performance and actively develop them to ensure they meet position expectations and maximize their contributions as the company’s needs evolve
    • Support employee development of personal goals & objectives through coaching, mentoring and identification of developmental actions, in alignment with CST business needs and goals

    Qualifications

    Required Skills/Experience:

    • PhD in a biological science (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or biochemistry)
    • 5+ years experience, combined post-doc, academic and/or industry setting
    • Expertise with next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms and NGS data analysis, including antibody gene repertoires
    • Experience with the genomic organization, molecular cloning and sequence analysis of antibodies
    • Advanced working knowledge of general molecular biology (e.g. cloning, RT-PCR, vector construction, sequence analysis, etc.)
    • Experience managing a small team (2-4) of research associates
    • Computer proficiency including working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Docs, or related applications

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • Prior experience with automation platforms (e.g. Hamilton Robotics)
    • Prior experience with B cell biology
    • Prior experience with the genomic organization, molecular cloning and sequence analysis of antibodies
    • Experience with discovering and generating monoclonal antibodies
    • Ability to script programming languages (e.g. Python) common to bioinformatics analyses
    • Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Self-motivated with strong organization skills
    • Team-oriented mindset
    • Ability to multi-task effectively and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines successfully
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
